Route between Belo Horizonte/São Gonçalo do Rio das Pedras
Option 1
Via Serra do Cipó/Conceiçao do MatoDentro/Serro – Take the Green Line (Linha Verde) in the direction of Confins Airport/Lagoa Santa and take the exit to Lagoa Santa. Go through Lagoa Santa heading towards the Serra do Cipó/ Conceição do Mato Dentro. The road to Conceição is paved, but very curvy. In Conceição, continune towards Serro – of the 60 km from Conceição to Serro, about 25km are well-maintained dirt roads and the rest is paved. On weekdays, there may be traffic because of the Anglo American mine.
Upon arriving in Serro, take the Ring Road (Anel Rodoviário) that circles the city of Serro. Follow the signs to make a return (retorno) and then continue in the direction of Diamantina for about 3 to 4 km until you come to a T-intersection where you must either go right or left. Turn right, continue up a hill and you will see a sign for Milho Verde/Diamantina, indicating the exit to the left.
From the exit to Milho Verde, there are 20km of paved road. Go through Milho Verde. From Milho Verde to São Gonçalo, there are 7km of dirt roads.
Enter São Gonçalo and cross through the village on the main road (paving stones). After the bridge, bear to the left to the PizzariaQueroMais (on your left), where you will bear to the right continuing of the main road until you see the first sign for the Pousadado Capão indicating a right turn (on Rua do Fogo). From here, just follow the signs to the Pousada.

Option 2
Via SeteLagoas/Curvelo/Serro - Take BR 040, towards Ceasa/SeteLagoas/Curvelo/Brasília. If you are coming from Rio, take the Ring Road (Anel Rodoviário). In Paraopeba, there is a good place for a pit-stop: Leite Ao Pé da Vaca. Shortly after this stop, there is an exit for Curvelo/Montes Claros. It is well-marked. Stay on this road until the exit from Curvelo/Diamantina. Take the exit, pass through Curvelo towards Gouveia/Diamantina. At the rotary, 7 kilometers past Gouveia, take the first exit towards Datas/Serro. Arriving in Serro, you will pass COPASA on your right and come to a jug-handle exit with signs indicating Serro and Conceição do Mato Dentro. Ignore these signs and continue around the exit so as to continue straight on the same road that you were on. Head up the hill and you will see a sign indicating an entrance on the left for Milho Verde/Diamantina. Take this exit and follow the signs. From here to Miho Verde, there are 20 km of paved roads. Go through Milho Verde and continue for 7 km of dirt roads to São Gonçalo.
Enter São Gonçalo and cross through the village on the main road (paving stones). After the bridge, bear to the left to the Pizzaria Quero Mais (on your left), where you will bear to the right continuing of the main road until you see the first sign for the Pousada do Capão indicating a right turn (on Rua do Fogo). From here, just follow the signs to the Pousada.
